Boca Chica
Boca Chica is located in the San Lorenzo district approximately 1 hour drive from David. The area is well known for it’s beautiful islands just off the coast including Boca Brava, Palenque, Linarte, Saino, Las Ventanas, San Jose, Bolanos, Gomez, Parida and several other smaller islands. The area has seen tremendous growth over the past five years in the number of hotels, fishing, diving and eco-related businesses that have opened. To reach any of the islands just drive to the small town of Boca Chica and ask for the water taxi dock, you can park your car on the side of the road and for $5-$35 round trip you can visit just about any island.
The weather in the Boca Chica area is on the warm side with temperatures averaging 29°C / 84°F during the day and 20°C / 68°F at night. August through November are considered the winter or rainy months but compared to the highlands of Chiriqui, Boca Chica is fairly dry with an average annual precipitation of 60 inches.
From a real estate prospective this area offers a wide variety of opportunities. For starters there is no shortage of Private Islands investment properties where one could build a house or start a hotel business. The unspoiled beauty of this region remains pristine with white sand beaches, dense tropical forest and an abundant wildlife presence. No wonder many of the eco-resorts found in Panama have selected the Boca Chica area as their home. The area also is in position to become the next boating mecca, a true yachting and sailing fan’s fantasy. Dozens of little islands, protected harbors, fantastic scenery, marine life, and an aquatic National Park. The future of Panama’s Pacific boating could lie in this zone. To add to this some of the world’s best fishing grounds, Hannibal Bank and Coiba Island are just a short distance away where you can catch Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Pacific Sailfish, Dorado and Yellow Fin Tuna and a wide variety of other fish. Fishing close to shore and around the numerous islands, will delight novices and experienced fisherman alike.
